The Ashford Board of Education is requesting nominations to fill a vacant seat on the board resulting from the resignation of an elected member.
The deadline for nominations is 12pm on Wednesday, December 18.
Eligible applicants include Ashford residents over 18 years of age who are not employed for compensation in the Ashford School District. In addition, due to requirements for minority party representation, an applicant must be registered as a Republican or unaffiliated; he or she may not be registered as a Democrat.
If you are interested in being considered, please submit a letter of interest (no longer than 1 page) that describes the following: 1) why you are interested in becoming an Ashford BOE member; 2) your relevant knowledge or qualifications; and 3) why you are the best candidate to fill this vacancy.
Letters of interest must be received by the deadline and may be submitted via any one of the following methods:
o Mail to Ashford School: Ashford School, c/o Central Office – BOE Vacancy, 440 Westford Road, Ashford, CT 06278; or
o Drop off at Ashford School Main Office in an envelope addressed to “Central Office – BOE Vacancy”.
The BOE will review all nomination letters received by the December 18 deadline and will notify applicants on Friday, December 20, if they were selected for an interview. Interviews are planned to be held during the Board of Education’s regular meeting scheduled for January 2 and will be conducted during the public session.
