Ashford School Readiness Council




Ashford School, as fiduciary, in partnership with the Town of Ashford and Ashford School Readiness Council, is applying for the Connecticut State Department of Education School Readiness Grant for fiscal year July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.

School Readiness funds may be used to purchase spaces for preschool children from NAEYC accredited center-based programs or programs seeking NAEYC accreditation, including for-profit or not-for profit preschool programs, public school preschool programs, Head Start programs, and state funded day care programs.  Local qualified NAEYC accredited center-based programs or programs seeking NAEYC accreditation have the opportunity to apply for funding to add additional spaces to their preschool program.

Ashford School Readiness Council will receive sealed proposals at 440 Westford Road, Ashford, CT until April 14, 2017 @ 4:00 p.m. for School Readiness Grant Program Fiscal Year 2018.  Contact Sharon Kozey, School Readiness liaison, at to request a Local Request for Proposal.

This public notice is in accordance with the requirements of the application for competitive school readiness municipalities (Connecticut General Statutes Sections 10-16o through Sections 10-16r and Sections 10-16t through 10-16u).

Ashford School Readiness Quality Enhancement Grant FY 2018


School Readiness Quality Enhancement Grant – The Quality Enhancement Grant Program Local Request for Proposal is available for July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018 fiscal year.  The purpose of Quality Enhancement funding is to assist early care and education programs in addressing quality standards and/or expand comprehensive services for children and families. Applicants must request the Individual Vendor RFP FY18 by March 31, 2017.  Application deadline is April 14, 2017.  Contact Sharon Kozey, School Readiness liaison, at to request a Vendor RFP.

What is the School Readiness Council?

The School Readiness Council plans activities and events that help provide parents and children with information about resources available regarding the transitions that occur during the early childhood years. The council consists of members of various service agencies throughout town including Ashford Youth Services, Babcock Library, Board of Education, school administration and faculty, local family day care and parent representatives.

How do we support Families?

We provide parent and child interactive activities and workshops as well as literacy and cultural events. Some examples include:
Family Reading Night
Parenting Concerns Workshop
Motor Development Workshop
Other programs based on needs or interests
These programs are available to all families in the Ashford community at no cost.
